WILLIAMS ADVANCED ENGINEERING

A division of the Williams Group, Williams advanced engineering’s expertise has been on show since 2009 when kers was introduced to Formula 1. A pioneer of electrical systems, Williams is the official and sole supplier of the batteries used in the spark-renault SRT_01E. The British company first had to identify the right type of cells and then assess how many were needed before assembling them so that they would fit in the required space. The williams-supplied battery produces 200kw, or the equivalent of 270bhp.

Frank Williams - Williams Team Principal
Williams Advanced Engineering has designed and assembled a battery system for all 40 cars being used in FIA Formula E. Our energy storage capability first originated from the Formula 1 programme following the introduction of Kinetic Energy Recovery Systems (KERS) to the sport in 2009.

Under the Williams Advanced Engineering banner, we are now active in developing battery and flywheel energy storage systems for both motorsport and non-motorsport applications.
